Al Siesta and Siesta Boxing Promotions are delighted to announce that Luther Clay will face the popular Renald ‘The Lion’ Garrido at the ‘Battle of Bracknell’ on July 8th at Bracknell leisure centre. The highly anticipated event will also feature; Naylor Ball, George Lamport, Jonny Phillips and Pink Tyson amongst a host of other local talent.

Luther Clay has fast become one of Europe’s most promising Welterweights in his first 9 fights, firmly establishing himself within the top 20 of the UK’s most competitive division. Clay has fought all over Europe and Russia taking a very different route than many of his fellow 147 pound fighters. At just 22 years old, Clay has fought some of the World’s most anticipated young prospects and contenders, most notably defeating Danny Craven on The World Boxing Super Series George Groves Vs Chris Eubank Jr Semi-final undercard in February of this year and most recently defeating Belgian; Jean-Pierre Habimana at Arena Riga, Latvia on May 12th with a stunning TKO victory.

Standing in Clay’s way is former two-time French Champion Renald ‘The Lion’ Garrido. ‘The Lion’ has had an impressive career to date having shared the ring with some of Europe’s best fighters including; current IBO World Champion, Frankie Gavin, Jack Catterall, Bradley Saunders and Cletus Seldin. Garrido was considered mightily unfortunate not to win the WBO European on two separate occasions with Faith Keles in Germany last year, firstly drawing with the undefeated Turkish fighter in what many journalists and pundits described as a clear victory for Garrido, that was then followed by another dubious decision against Teles, Garrido losing by majority decision for WBO European title again. Despite the bad luck the Frenchman bounced back to claim the French title over Jean Moraiti.

A truly fascinating encounter between contender (Clay) and the seasoned two time french champion (Garrido) in a classic ‘Student Vs Master’ fight.
